The "Marina" was originally sold by Sears, Roebuck and Company in 1918 for $1289.00. This project created new functional spaces which were sympathetic to the design and the scale of the original bungalow, adding a large family room open to the kitchen, and a large master bedroom suite. The Owners also sought to improve on the "awkward" existing conditions of the original design. The original stair was taken out of the existing house and incorporated into the addition. The Owners wanted to take more advantage of a large wooded lot/parkland in the back of the house, especially from the second floor. A catalogue design rarely responded to the unique characteristics of the site where it was to be built.
